Exploring Lake Como with ATAS Experience

Last month, the Association of Touring & Adventure Suppliers (ATAS) hosted its inaugural ATAS Experience trip to the picturesque Lake Como, Italy. As a participant in this journey, I found myself immersed in a blend of adventure, culture, and gastronomy that exceeded all expectations.
The first-ever ATAS Experience kicked off in grand style with a breathtaking sunset boat trip against the backdrop of the serene lake waters and the golden hues of the setting sun, while we, the attendees, had the opportunity to engage with fellow members and supplier partners, setting the tone for the days ahead. Day two promised even more excitement, and ATAS delivered magnificently. All members were given a choice of excursions, which offered a unique perspective on Lake Como. I opted for a visit to the majestic Villa Balbianella, a true gem nestled along the shores of Lake Como. Steeped in history and surrounded by meticulously manicured gardens, the villa offered a glimpse into the region's rich heritage. Additionally, the exploration of the charming town of Bellagio provided further insight into the local culture and way of life.
Other attendees were out exploring different parts of the lake, from a walking and wine experience that allowed them to savour the region's renowned wines amidst stunning scenery, to a pasta-making session that provided hands-on insight into Italian culinary traditions, and a bike ride which also went into Switzerland where attendees were able to soak in the beauty of our surroundings, offering a different vantage point of the breathtaking landscapes that define Lake Como.
Looking ahead, the excitement continues for ATAS with the announcement of an upcoming conference on 15-16 October 2024 at the prestigious Leeds Royal Armouries. This event promises to be a gathering of industry leaders, offering valuable insights and networking opportunities for members of the ATAS community. It is an event not to be missed for anyone passionate about touring and adventure travel.
